Tameca Harris - Jackson

President

Tameca Harris-Jackson is the current President and a founding member of the Jewels of Color, Inc. She is the owner, founder, and director of Hope & Serenity Health Services, a mental and behavioral health agency located in Winter Park, Florida that specializes in women’s mental and sexual health, couples and relationship therapy, LGBTQ+ support, and therapy for children and families. She is also a speaker and consultant on racial, gender and sexual justice issues and an educator, teaching with various universities on topics related to social work and human sexuality.

Tameca is is a licensed clinical social worker in and received her Bachelor's degree in Counseling from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA, where she also minored in Women's Studies. She received her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland - Baltimore and went on to pursue and receive her PhD in Human Sexuality Education from Widener University in Chester, PA in 2010.

In addition to pouring her passion for service into her work with the Jewels of Color, Inc., Tameca has been a member of several boards and organizations that promote and advocate for women’s rights and social justice. They include:

In her spare time, Tameca is a travel enthusiast! She enjoys exploring the world and taking in its rich diversity. She is also an animal lover and enjoys scouring places for unique and delicious southern vegan cuisine.

Shacara Brummitt

Vice President

Shacara Brummitt is a founding member of Jewels of Color, Inc. She has a career as a professional school counselor, and enjoys working with children. Shacara is pursuing licensure in mental health counseling, with plans to to open her own mental health practice.

Shacara received an Associates degree from Daytona State College (Behavioral and Social Sciences), and both a Bachelor’s (Liberal Studies) and Master’s degree (Counselor Education) from the University of Central Florida.

​

Shacara is an advocate for women’s rights, and loves being a part of Jewels of Color, Inc. In her spare time, she can be found working out, reading, and traveling! Her mantra is to live, and to do it well!

Saleema Simmons

Director of Operations

Saleema Simmons is a founding member and Director of Operations of of Jewels of color, Inc. She currently has a career with in the field of Chiropractic Medicine specializing in slip and falls and car accidents. She is also is an entrepreneur. Her online clothing company fittingly named "I Am Purpose", allows her to create ready to wear clothing designed inspire and motivate others.

 

Saleema has two beautiful children: Shayni, 7, and Saima,  2. Being a mother is her most cherished accomplishments. So much so, she recently completed her first journey into being an angel to others through surrogacy. On September 27, 2019, she gave birth to her first surro-baby who now resides in Spain! She plans to help another family in the near future.

Saleema advocates for single mothers and self love, and is devoted to to the work she dose in J.O.C. She radiates love, life, and peace. In her spare time she enjoys dancing, couponing or anything she can do with her kids. Her life's mantra is " I choose the rest of my life to be the best of my life".

Jullin Hassell - Watson

Director of Finance

Jullin Hassell-Watson is the current existing director of finance and a founding member of Jewels of Color, Inc. She was born in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands and is the co-owner of D & J Party rentals. Her business motto mirrors that of her life's journey, with hard work and focus, she can make any dream come true. 

​

Jullin received an associates in business administration from Valencia College in Orlando, FL and is now actively pursuing her bachelors in Business Administration at Valencia college. After graduating, she plans to use her degree to manage her and her wife's party rental business. 

 

She is like the mother in the Jewel's group and family/friends are very important to her. She is married to Dr. Doreen Watson and they have 3 children: Cherise, 35, Dennis, 32, and Kee'Manee, 22 years of age. She has 3 grandchildren. She loves to laugh and is a very loyal friend. 

​

Jullin is an advocate for prison reform and the reintegration of ex-cons back into the community. She is also very passionate about empowering and being a positive role model for young women, especially those of color.
